This year we’re building a home for Mohamad, his wife Nisreen and their five children. They are refugees from Syria and are in the process of building a new life in the United States, where they have been living for about four years.
We’re again partnering with Pilgrim Lutheran and Steve Nobis is leading the charge for that congregation. The wall build will be May 15 and our build days will be June 8 and 9, 11 and 12. We’ll be responsible for lunches and devotions on the 8th and 9th and Steve and Pilgrim will take the 11th and 12th. We’ll combine crews for each of the work days (HFHBC would like a crew of 10 for each day).
Each congregation will offer 5 workers for each day (9am-3pm) plus one alternative, if possible. We also need a volunteer to lead a short morning devotion and prayer plus we need a couple of folks to deliver lunches for our two days. We’ll fund those through a Thrivent grant. When available, we will provide the link to sign up on the Habitat web site, but for now, please contact John and Barb Burkhardt at or call John at 317-702-3167 to express your interest in a work day, a devotion, or to bring lunches.
In addition, our goal for financial contribution this year is $5,000. The lumber shortage and price increases on almost everything, has increased our build costs considerably and we’re hoping some of you may have a few stimulus bucks you might want to contribute to a great cause. Please designate any contributions with "Habitat for Humanity" in the memo.
