The controversial novel, American Dirt, will be the March selection for members of the CLC Book Club. The meeting will be on Zoom on Thursday, March 11, 1:00 p.m.
In the story, Lydia Perez, an Acapulco, Mexico bookstore owner and her eight-year-old son Luca become targeted by a drug cartel after Lydia’s journalist husband exposes the cartel’s leader, Javier, who has become a favorite bookstore client of Lydia’s. When Lydia’s husband and relatives are murdered at a family party, Lydia and Luca must escape the cartel and they become immigrants, traveling via freight train to the U.S. border through dangerous areas of Mexico.
